🎄 Christmas Tree Farm Mini Session Guidelines 🎄
I’m so excited for these sessions and can’t wait to see you at the farm! Please take a moment to read through the important reminders below so everything runs smoothly.
🐾 Bringing Pets
Yes—you can bring your dog! The owners of Windy Hills Farm are animal lovers (one of them is even a veterinarian!). Dogs are welcome, but must:
- Be on a leash at all times
- Have their waste picked up immediately (please bring bags)
⏰ Arrive Early
Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled session time to allow for parking and walking to the photo spot. Sessions are scheduled very close together, so arriving late may cut into your session.
🌲 Farm Safety
This is a working farm, so please watch your step! You may encounter:
- Uneven ground, tree stumps, or stump holes
- Fire ants, wasps, or other critters
👉 You and your family enter and use the property at your own risk.
🚜 Respect the Property
This farm is the owners’ livelihood—please help us protect it!
- Do not move, damage, or remove trees, plants, or equipment.
- Stay within the designated areas for photos.
👗 Outfit Planning
Now comes the fun part—picking the perfect outfits for your session! ✨
- Coordinating (not matching) colors always look best in photos.
- Think festive pops of red, navy, or plaid, paired with cozy neutrals like cream, tan, or gray.
- Add in textures like sweaters, boots, and scarves for a warm holiday feel.

🎄 What to Wear for Your Christmas Tree Farm Session 🎄
- BOLD COLORS
Choose colors that pop against the rich green backdrop of the trees—reds, blues, whites, blacks, and creams always photograph beautifully. These tones bring out the festive feel and keep your portraits timeless and vibrant.
- SHOES
Shoes truly set the tone! For the Tree Farm, boots are perfect for the ladies and dressy sneakers or boots work great for the guys and kids. Since this is an active farm, keep in mind there may be uneven ground, stumps, and holes. Moms—if you’re planning on heels, be prepared for a little grassy adventure. 😉
- ACCESSORIES
We all know October in South Louisiana can feel more like summer than winter, but accessories are still a fun way to add variety to your look! Scarves, hats, or even a cozy blanket can add that holiday touch. Feel free to bring your own props if you’d like—we’ll also have a few simple options for the kids. (I personally love when sessions stay light on props so the focus is on your family!)
✨ Remember: Keep it festive, keep it comfortable, and most importantly—have fun with it!
